This pattern indicates that two things are happening at the same time.

  • 边...边...
  • bian ... bian ...

Examples[edit | edit source]

  1. 边吃边说
    bian chi bian shuo
    To eat and talk (but this doesn't mean to talk with your mouth full)
  2. 边听边写
    bian ting bian xie
    To listen and write (i.e. take notes)
