The Sazerac originated in New Orleans, Louisianna and is based on a combination of Cognac and Peychaud's Bitters.

Ingredients[edit | edit source]

  • 2 parts Brandy or Rye whiskey
  • 1 dash Peychaud's bitters
  • 1 tsp. simple syrup
  • 1 tsp. absinthe

Garnishes[edit | edit source]

  • Lemon peel

Glass[edit | edit source]

Old fashioned glass



Procedure[edit | edit source]

  1. Coat the inside of the glass with a film of absinthe.
  2. Stir the rest of the ingredients together in a mixing glass with ice.
  3. Strain into the absinthe coated glass.
  4. Garnish with lemon peel and serve.
