Annotations[edit | edit source]

quis est homo : Mercadante     (Latin) Who is the man?[1] See 079.09. Bloom seems to be confusing Mercadante with Rossini. Earlier, he mentioned Mercadante's Le sette ultime parole di Nostro Signore Gesù Cristo (The Seven Last Words of Our Lord Jesus Christ) immediately after alluding to Rossini's Stabat Mater.

See also 278.29 and 614.28, where Mercadante and Meyerbeer are confused.
