691.12 Pooles Myriorana By 1900, Poole's Myriorama had seven separate shows touring for 40 weeks of the year.[1]Myrioramas were a kind of entertainment that got popular in the 19th century and was later replaced by cinemas. It gave the spectators the illusion of travelling through a landscape, for example along a river, an exotic place or a glorious British battle scene. Poole's show included explanations by a narrator, music and other effects. The landscapes were painted on a very long canvass, winding like a scroll between two vertical cylinders.
