Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN codes)

This book was created on December 7th, 2007 for the purpose of keeping the wikipedia article on VINs under control. It will start off as a consolidation of all VIN-related code tables that were included on Wikipedia.

The final state of this book will most probably consist of the full explanation of vin-obtainable information, and how to decode said VINs.

Warning: The term "Vehicle Identification Number" or "VIN", as used throughout this Wikibook and in Wikipedia articles, headings and titles and index entries, actually means "Post-1980 Vehicle Identification Numbers ONLY."
