General Anatomy/Heart
Appearance
Hypertension is "increasing in blood pressure". Physiologically (normally) in adult it is under 130/85 mmHg (read: one hundred thirty with eighty five millimeters of mercury column). First value refers to systolic pressure and the second refers to diastolic pressure. Normal blood pressure is defined as blood pressure that does not make any structural or functional modifications on target organs (eye, kidney, brain, heart and periferic vessels). These structural or functional modifications that appear on target organs in hypertension are referred vascular remodeling. Classification:
- Primary hypertension (multiple causes, or unknown etiology)
- Secondary hypertension (known cause)
