English: Fig. 4. View of the colony of American Lotus (Nelumbo lutea) at Resort on the head of Sodus Bay. The Lotus grows in water to six feet deep in front of a dense marginal growth of Scirpus, Typha and Juncus along the shore in shallow water. Nymphaea tuberosa and several species of Potamogeton are also abundant here.
