كانت المطحنة أداة رئيسية لطحن الحبوب ، و تتكون من حجرين ثقيلين مستديرين يوضعان فوق بعضهما وفي الحجر العلوى منها توجد فتحة لوضع الحبوب ، ويوجد مقبض من خشب لتدوير الحجر ، ويمكن من خلالها التحكم في درجة سمك الدقيق

ومن ألذ، وأروع ما ينتج هذا الرحى : الروينة، الدشيشة،الزميطة،الفريك....
