*NOTE: All wakeboarders in AY sponsored wakeboarding class must wear a ski vest.

Have the Advanced Beginner’s Swimming Honor.

1. Know and practice the following safety rules[edit | edit source]

a. Never wakeboard at night.[edit | edit source]

b. Never wakeboard during an electrical storm.[edit | edit source]

c. Always wear a ski vest while wakeboarding.[edit | edit source]

d. Make sure the wakeboarding rope is in good condition.[edit | edit source]

e. Make sure the wakeboarding bindings are in good condition.[edit | edit source]

f. Always have a spotter and flag in the boat.[edit | edit source]

g. Stay clear of objects, such as other skiers, swimmers, tubers, docks or floating objects.[edit | edit source]

h. If you fall let go of the rope.[edit | edit source]

i. After a fall, raise a hand to indicate you are all right.[edit | edit source]

j. Do not stand in the boat while it is moving.[edit | edit source]

2. Know the following hand signals[edit | edit source]

a. Slower[edit | edit source]

Thumbs down

b. Speed is OK[edit | edit source]

c. Faster[edit | edit source]

d. Back to dock[edit | edit source]

Pat your head or turn finger in a circle (turning your finger in a circle means turn around, not essentially back to dock.)

e. Stop[edit | edit source]

f. Turn[edit | edit source]

3. Put on the wakeboard by yourself. Be able to remove the wakeboard in deep water by yourself.[edit | edit source]

4. Execute a deep-water start on the wakeboard on a full line rope.[edit | edit source]

Remember to stay in your ball and then slowly stand up, using your weight to control your left and right movement. Keep your arms straight so the line won't go slack.

5. Successfully cross both wakes and return to center without falling.[edit | edit source]

6. Do a small jump off the wake and land without falling.[edit | edit source]
