• In the diagram Image:WPEVStartRun.png image, the relay is called Ry RL, but down in the text it's referred to as Ry RS.

• Just a question: in the first part of the article, it talks about how the car should operate like an ICE vehicle, requiring the key to be turned to the Start position. But then later in the article, it talks about breaking people of the habit of the pressing the accelerator pedal. Maybe I'm one of those operators of older vehicles talked about, but I still press the accelerator when I start my car, whether it's fuel-injected or not. So it seems like in the same description, it's trying to make the car start like an ICE vehicle, and yet not make it start like an ICE vehicle.

• The rectangular area called In Cab confused me. At first, I thought it was some special kind of component. Then I came to think that, no, it's not a component at all; it just represents "somewhere inside the cab." I think this latter view is the correct one, but I'd like text and/or picture to make it clearer. I'm also not sure what the short blue wire between "Run Buss" and "Run:" is for. My guess is that it's for other systems that are activated only when the ignition state has been latched, but the text doesn't make that clear--and this also added to my confusion about the In Cab being a component.

The short blue wire is the run-latch path. Ry RL is initially pulled down by the Start signal via Ry A-S (if the interlock chain is closed). The left part of the blue line applies power to Ry RL. If not latched, this would open when Start is no longer applied, so Ignition (brown) is applied via the closed contacts to the Run Buss and thence through D1 to hold the relay closed.

Will clarify the diagram with respect to Cab. This is currently clarified in the associated text.

• I don't know what this means: "The run buss is grounded when not in the run state, allowing additional interlocks to be included in order to ensure proper shutdown." Where would these additional interlock be placed? How would they ensure proper shutdown?

For example, run power from the headlights through a diode to an acoustic alarm that has its negative side on the run buss. If lights are on and run buss is grounded (not running), alarm sounds. Lights off and running, reverse current flow into the low resistance lighting is blocked by the diode. Lights on and running, both ends of circuit are high, no alarm. A diagram showing this has been added. By adding a switch when the parking brake is firmly pulled then a similar alarm can be applied via clock or dome light power (on at all times), alarm if off and parking brake not well pulled.

• Finally, I had to think about diode D1. When the key switch is in the Start position and both relays are enabled, there will be 12V on each side of the diode. Therefore the diode won't conduct, since one side isn't lower in voltage than the other. When the key switch is then returned to the On position, the Alarm-Start Relay will open, removing the +12V on the negative side of the diode, so the diode will start conducting, thus keeping the Run Latch Relay (Ry RL) energized. Is that correct? If so, maybe an explanation could be added to that effect for dummies like me. If not, then perhaps add a description of the way it really works.

Your description is correct. Note that without the diode that the Ground Not Run (GNR) function will short the start preventing the run-latch from pulling in.

I suggest include information about how to convert a petroleum vehicle into a tribid or solar electric vehicle (how to install the right solar panels.

Such skills are difficult to come by in many states since the low tax attitudes and laws have lead to the removal of shop classes of various types from the intermediate and high school programs In my high school, I attended in the last year of auto shop availablility, which I didn't realize at the time.(California, few years ago)

List of successful conversions

I suggest people make a list of successful conversions so continuous improvement can happen. People would see the best conversions and have that as a starting point. The table would include:
car | miles/charge | max speed | total cost of conversion | type of engine (airplane, forklift ect) | ... If you have any other ideas for table headers, just edit this comment.
