Here, in 1923, members of the United States Senate, United States Forest Service, and the Northwest forest landowners agreed upon the principles embodied in the Clarke-McNary Act of June 7, 1924 for the cooperative forest fire protection of state and private lands.
This plaque commemorates fifty years of successful cooperation in the reduction of wildfire on forest lands, the primary factor to successful management of the renewable forest resource.
