English: 2D cut through a hydrogen orbital with quantum numbers n=5, l=3 and m=1. The brightness depicts , which makes the integrated brightness at each distance x from the vertical axis proportional to the probability of finding the electron at that distance (for a cylindrically symmetric distribution). At full resolution, 1Å=13.
