Summary
| Description |
English: Built in 1996, this Postmodern-style deconstructivist building was designed by Peter Eisenman for the University of Cincinnati's College of Design, Art, Architecture, and Planning (DAAP) to unify the school's three older buildings into a single, cohesive complex. It was named in honor of Ohio Senator Stanley Aronoff. The building features a very jumbled and fragmented facade with multiple colors of panels and irregularly shaped and irregularly placed windows and door openings on the exterior, with a subtle curve to the facade following the topography of the adjacent hill and linking the older orthogonal buildings with irregularly shaped footprints to the south. Inside, the building houses an auditorium, studios, classrooms, a library, and a large atrium home to a grand stair, with a confusing layout that is maze-like to most people unfamiliar with the building. The building served to help expand the programs of the College of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning (DAAP), and today houses a substantial amount of the college’s programs. |
