Category Iranian recipes

Ghavoot (قاووت) or Ghovvatoo (قووتو) is a nutritionally-dense recipe made by powdered seeds, nuts, and sugar. There are several versions, depending on the components chosen, and their portion.

It is a traditional souvenir of Kerman, Iran.

Ingredients[edit]

  • Coffee beans
  • Cinnamon
  • Seasame
  • Cottonseeds
  • Black seeds
  • Poppy seeds
  • Chickpeas
  • Walnut
  • Almond
  • Pistachio nuts
  • Unnamed others...

Preparation[edit]

  • Grind and roast each component
  • Add sugar at equal weight; grind
  • Serve as powder, or blend it with milk or hot water

Tips[edit]

  • Ghavoot is a traditional energizer. We suggest you to consume it as a pre-workout snack. One study supports ghavoot's ergogenic effect.
