A crank puller is a tool for removing cranks from the bottom bracket spindle. There are two main types of cranks: square taper and spline drive. Most modern bicycles have moved to spline drive and away from the square taper design. One crank puller will not pull both styles of cranks unless it includes an interchangeable accessory for this purpose.
