Tanfiri, also called donkwa, is a northern Nigerian snack often eaten by children. It is made with cornmeal and groundnut, and it melts in the mouth. It is sometimes confused with kuli kuli, although tanfiri does not requires cooking. At most northern Nigerian parties, organizers serve tanfiri as a party starter.
Ingredients[edit | edit source]
- Cornmeal, sieved to remove impurities
- Groundnuts
- Sugar
- Ground chile pepper (optional)
- Ground cloves
- Sunflower oil
- Water
Procedure[edit | edit source]
- Blend cornmeal, groundnuts, sugar, ground chili, and ground cloves together. Grind well to make a fine powder.
- Transfer the powder to a large bowl.
- Gradually mix in oil and water in small amounts to make a dough.
- Shape the dough into balls with your hands.
- Serve.
