- Cod fish
- Salt
- White granulated sugar
- Black pepper
- Flour
- Baking powder
- Yeast
- Onion
- Fresh bell pepper
- Vegetable oil
Procedure[edit | edit source]
- Wash the fish and season with salt. Fry in hot oil until cooked through. Remove from the oil and cool.
- De-bone the fish and flake the flesh. Set aside.
- Combine the sugar, salt, black pepper, flour, baking powder, and yeast in a bowl.
- Blend the onion and fresh pepper into a purée, and stir into the flour mixture.
- Gradually mix warm water into your dough until you get a thick batter. Cover and set aside for 15–20 minutes.
- Mix the flaked fish into the batter.
- Heat the oil in a pan. Spoon small portions of batter into the oil, and fry them until browned on both sides. Remove and drain any excess oil.
- Serve with pap, custard, or bread.
