Book completion status[edit source]

Readers browsing through a certain subject area or classification often want to view books that are complete or closer to completion. In order to indicate the level of completion for a book, add {{status|<PROGRESS>}} to a book's main page, where <PROGRESS> is one of the following: 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100%. – Adrignola talk 22:06, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Use To put a book in
{{status|100%}} Completed books
{{status|75%}} Books nearing completion
{{status|50%}} Half-finished books
{{status|25%}} Partly developed books
{{status|0%}} Freshly started books

Licensing[edit source]

I'm thinking the the licensing on the book you've been working on, Optimizing Code for Speed, may be redundant to the site's required licensing. According to the terms of use, all content must already be available under the CC-BY-SA and GFDL. – Adrignola discuss 15:21, 4 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Adrignola: hi! Thanks for your contribution to the Optimizing Code wikibook. They are much appreciated. Regarding the licensing, an important difference is that the CC-by licence allows one to convert the licence of derivative copies of the text to any other Creative Commons licence, or alternatively to other free, not-so-free, or completely All Rights Reserved licences, which is not possible with CC-by-sa whose derivative copies should remain under the same CC-by-sa licence. As a result, the CC-by licence has appealed to me as an author of previous essays which I've written and published in non-wiki formats, usually under the CC-by licence. Note that the dual terms of CC-by and GFDL are compatible with those of the rest of wikipedia because one can sublicense CC-by under CC-by-sa. That's why I've included them there, and I hope you understand now. Shlomif (discusscontribs) 15:54, 4 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the explanation. I missed that important detail that it was CC-BY and CC-BY-SA. – Adrignola discuss 16:40, 4 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
