Sguil005, I have also had some trouble choosing a career, but I recently decided to teach. I was actually a history minor as an undergraduate, and I am very interested in the subject. I was an English major, and I hope to teach high school English, so we have the same grade range in common. I agree that students in this age range can be positively affected by a good teacher. I think that history, like English, is a subject that students often dread. When these subjects are taught in an engaging way, however, I believe that they can be very entertaining and enlightening. It is important for students to understand the significance and continuing impact of the subject material so that they can better relate to it. All the best. I think that it is awesome that you are going back to school to do what you really want to do. This will be my fifth year of college and I have one more after this because I have changed my mind so many times on what I wanted to do. You are also very lucky to have lived in Italy. I studied abroad in Spain and I wish that I could go back. My boyfriend is in the Navy also and I am trying to convince him to get stationed in Rota so that I can go there and live, since my major is Spanish it would be very beneficial. I also agree with your educational philosophy. I remember in high school that those teachers that made the classroom more interesting and fun made me like that subject more than the other subjects. I look forward to having this class with you and good luck.Aearh001 (talk) 10:43, 2 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
