Brown sugar is not Vegan--it's white sugar with molasses. Can you use raw or turbinado instead and get good results?

White sugar is vegan insofar as there are no animal products in it. You may consider the possibility of using bone charcoal to be unacceptable, though. (I tend not to care; the animals aren't killed for their bones -- better to use the waste products for something productive) In any case, replacing with turbinado, fructose, evaporated cane (florida crystals), etc is usually fine; add a bit of molassas =) Kellen

Hmm..good idea. I will add it to the bread recipe. Thanks for your suggestion.
