Image tagging[edit | edit source]

Templates:

  • Images without license which are used: {{subst:nld}}
  • Images without license which are not used: {{delete|unused, no license}}
  • For the uploader: {{subst:image copyright|Image:name.png}}

When it comes to template used in user discussion, I think that you should use a modified version of it, without image name in section title and with list of images instead of a single image. You also should add a notice that the message was generated by a bot. --Derbeth talk 21:41, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

image tags[edit | edit source]

Hi Guillom,

This is waht we're looking for so far.

  • For the 3 users who have hundreds of images uploaded without tags, it might be better to use a modified template that adds them to their own separate category (e.g.: Images without copyright uploaded by <username>)...if the bot can wait on those, that might be a good idea.
  • For the uploading user, use: {{Image copyright}}
  • If possible, it might be nice to add {{Imgd}} to pages using the image (after the cleanup is completed, this template will be altered to say that the images were deleted, and why)

Let me know what you think. --SB_Johnny | talk 14:37, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi johnny,
Everything's ok except the last part. Tagging all pages where there are tagged images will be really much work. I'll see if I can do it, but I can't promise for this part.
About the uploading user, do we agree on the fact I should warn him only once, even if there are several of his images tagged?

Ok, I figured that might not work too well.
I don't know about the once-warning thing... I'd like to make sure they know which images have problems. Though for the ones with 100s of images, obviously not (I think the bot should just leave those ones alone).
Another idea might be to have a dry run that just has the bot leave a notice on the talk page with a link to their list of untagged on the tolserver, so, for example, User:JamBam16 would recieve a warning and a link to this page (holy crap! look at his contribs!)
Going back to irc now... --SB_Johnny | talk 22:17, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
About tagging pages containing images without license: I think we could avoid it by using the MediaWiki:Sitenotice to warn everybody.
About the once-warning: yes, I think the best solution is to provide the link to their untagged images. The question is: I don't know if the images « tagged as untagged » still appear in the list. We should try and see. Another solution is to provide a link to the upload log of the user.
Last thing: Where should I redirect people who have questions about licenses? I will add a message on my talk page to warn people I won't answer them, so I have to direct them to such a page. guillom 10:12, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
