Taiwan history/Kingdom of Tungning

While the Dutch successfully colonized Taiwan, across the Taiwan strait, China (Ming dynasty) is loosing battles to the Manchu in the north. The last Ming government was moved to the south. One Ming general, Koxinga (also known as "Zeng Chenggong") , effectively resisted the Qing conquest of China in the 17th century. In 1661, Koxinga invaded Taiwan, ended the Era of Dutch rule.

Culture

Koxinga introduced Chinese culture and religion to Taiwan. During the Tungning kingdom era, Koxinga built schools in Taiwan.

Fall of Tungning

A Qing general, Shi Lang, conquered Taiwan and ended the Tungning Kingdom in 1683.
