In this lesson we'll speak about different modal verbs in Novoslovnica.


This verb is similar to English construction "to have to do smth". When you're forced to do something by some external conditions, you should use this word.

However, you can find a variant "Trěba" without any subject. It's translated as "It's necessary".


This verb is an analogue of English verb "must". When you think you must do something in any case, use this verb.


With this verb we've get acquainted in previous lessons. It means "can" or in some cases "may".


This verb is equal to English "to will/to want". It's not modal in English understanding, but it has some similar meaning.

The verbs "Should/Ought" are translated in Novoslovnica by subjunctive mood.
