Triads are three-note chords usually consisting of a tonic, a 3rd and a 5th. The four common triads are major triads (1, 3, 5), minor triads (1, flat 3, 5), diminished triads (1, flat 3, flat 5) and augmented triads (1, 3, sharp 5). There are also suspended triads like sus4 (1, 4, 5) and sus2 (1, 2, 5) which is an inversion of a sus4 triad.
