Description
English: The Shelby Cobra used the big area additive manufacturing (BAAM) machine, which manufactures strong, lightweight composite parts in sizes greater than one cubic meter. The Shelby is approximately 1400 pound vehicle containing 500 pounds of a printed parts made of 20% carbon fiber. Recent improvement to BAAM machine includes a smaller print bead size, resulting in smoother surface on the printer pieces. Subsequent work by Trudesign produced a class an automotive finish on the completed Shelby. It took six weeks to design, manufacture and assemble the car including 24 hours of print time.
