This population of Poa palustris stands over 1 m tall and is rhizomatous and is very similar to the surrounding and more widespread populations of the shorter-statured Agrostis stolonifera, which is also rhizomatous. The small spikelets from which most of the florets have disarticulated and dispersed are very reminiscent of Agrostis stolonifera except that the glumes lack the scabrous midrib and the few intact spikelets reveal several Poa florets.
