Summary

Description
English: Illustration of LaTeX \marginpar for LaTeX wikibook. Source code is
\documentclass[b4aper]{article}
\begin{document}
\section{Inline lists}

Inline lists are a special case as they require the use of the paralist package
which provides the inparaenum environment (with an optional formatting
specification in square brackets):

\section{Footnotes}
\marginpar{To insert a margin note use \texttt{mar\-gin\-par}.}
Footnotes are a very useful way of providing extra information to the reader.
Usually, it is non-essential information which can be placed at the bottom of
the page. This keeps the main body of text concise.

The footnote facility is easy to use. The command you need is:
\texttt{\textbackslash{}foot\-note\{text\}}. Do not leave a space between the
command and the word where you wish the footnote marker to appear, otherwise
Latex will process that space and will leave the output not looking as intended.
\end{document}
The text comes from b:en:LaTeX/Formatting. The document and image created by me, using LaTeX and GIMP.
