Deutsch: Das Schriftzeichen Madda auf einem Alif des arabischen Alphabets. Es gehört zur Gruppe der diakritischen Zeichen der Harakat, die zur Vokalisation verwendet werden. Madda ersetzt ein Alif mit Hamza (Knacklaut), gefolgt von einem weiteren Alif (langes „a“). Aussprache in IPA [ʔɑ]. Der punktierte Kreis zeigt die Position des zu vokalisierenden Konsonanten an.
English: The letter madda on an alif from the Arabic alphabet, belonging to the group of harakat diacritic marks, used to represent vowels. Madda is used to replace an alif with hamza (glottal stop), followed by another alif (long /a/). The circle indicates the position of the consonant the harakat is used upon.
