Hot Dog Buns are a simple recipe for buns that you can make at home and serve with your favorite sausage or hot dog.

Ingredients[edit | edit source]

  1. flour
  2. Dry yeast
  3. Milk
  4. Egg
  5. Salt
  6. Butter
  7. Water

Equipment[edit | edit source]

  1. Bowl
  2. Baking tray
  3. Plastic wrap
  4. Rolling pin
  5. Parchment paper
  6. Whisker
  7. Oven

Procedures[edit | edit source]

  • Step 1: Add the milk, sugar, and active dry yeast to a medium mixing bowl and stir to blend. Cover and set aside for 5 minutes to allow the yeast to activate. You'll notice some bubbles forming on the milk mixture once the yeast has been activated. Stir in the remaining sugar, salt, and egg until everything is well combined.
  • Step 2: To make a dough, combine the flour and butter. After forming the dough, place it on a lightly floured surface and knead it until it is smooth, non-sticky, and elastic. Place the already-made dough in a bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let aside for an hour or until it doubles in size. Deflate the balloon after an hour by punching it with your hands and transferring it to a work surface.
  • Step 3: Separate the dough into equal portions. Roll them out lengthwise using a rolling pin. To make a log, fold the sides together. Pinch the ends with your hand and roll into a smooth log. Place on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Allow the rolled hot dog buns to double in size again by covering them with plastic wrap. Glaze with an egg wash when the dough has doubled in size. Break one egg and add water to make the egg wash; whisk to mix. Brush the surface of your dough with a pastry brush. Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius and bake for 10 to 12 minutes.
