Verdanturf Town, known as Shidake Town (シダケタウン Shidake Taun) in the original Japanese version, is a fictional city in the Hoenn region of Pokémon. It is a small town with only one major landmark. It is also the home of Wally’s aunt, uncle, and cousin Wanda.
Places of interest
[edit | edit source]Contest House
[edit | edit source]In Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, Verdanturf Town has the Normal Rank Contest house.
Battle Tent
[edit | edit source]In Pokémon Emerald, the contest house is replaced with the Battle Tent (as is the case with all other contest houses except the one in Lilycove City). The Verdanturf Town battle tent is similar to the Battle Palace at the Battle Frontier, in which the battling Pokémon's Nature determines the attacks it will use (the Trainer has no say in the battle).
Happiness Rating
[edit | edit source]In Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, there is a woman who determines the happiness of the Pokémon in the first slot of the players team. If she says the Pokémon has maximum happiness, and if that Pokémon evolves though happiness, it will evolve the next time its level is increased.
Demographics
[edit | edit source]Despite Verdanturf Town being a small town, it has an impressive population due to the Contest Hall. The population of Verdanturf Town is 23.
