Rydel's Cycles
[edit | edit source]A bicycle shop. Rydel is a benevolent shop owner who sometimes gives his merchandise away to travelers. Trainers may choose between a Mach Bike or Acro Bike. The Mach Bike is fast, but it can't do any tricks, and the Acro Bike isn't as fast, but it can do tricks. Rydel will hold the other bike for the player until he or she decides to switch bikes.
Game Corner
[edit | edit source]A casino featuring slot machines and roulette. You need the Coin Case in order to play at it, which can be obtained by trading Harbor Mail for one in a house in Mauville. You can either play slots, or roulette tables. Players can win dolls and TMs. The dolls that can be won are ones of Treecko, Torchic, and Mudkip, while the TMs that can be won are TM13, TM24, TM29, TM32, and TM35.
New Mauville
[edit | edit source]New Mauville is an underground facility that can only be accessed after you get the Basement Key from Wattson, as well has HM03, Surf. The Basement Key is specifically for entering New Mauville, but Surf is needed solely since it is in the water near the city.
It holds Mauville's power generator, which needs to be turned off as soon as you have access to it. There is a puzzle of switches in New Mauville which always block parts of the path, but some of the switches have Voltorb disguised as Poké Balls on them. Wild Pokémon you can find are Magnemite and Voltorb, and to a lesser extent, Magneton and Electrode.
Demographics
[edit | edit source]Although Mauville City is a fairly big city, it has a small population in comparison to other cities. The population of the city is just 28.
