Internet Gaming Disorder is considered a "condition for further study" in the DSM-5. This means that based on a large number of studies and severe consequences potentially associated with this condition. It is a concern for psychologists because of reports of gamers who play persistently and recurrently to the exclusion of their other interests, and they experience symptoms of withdrawal when prevented from gaming.
