About Me

My name is Ebony. I moved to Va Beach from Charlottesville for my husband, Daryl. I graduated from Longwood University with a B.F.A in Graphics. I worked for a production company for about 2 years, however staying behind a computer for 12+ hours a day, I decided that I couldn't do this for the rest of my life. About this time I was also an assistant coaching basketball and decided that teaching would make life easier for coaching. It was! I now teach and coach at a local hs. My husband and I don't have any children of our own, however we do count the 100+ that we coach. We do have a dog named Felon. How did he get his name? He came from a litter of criminals, there were 2 girl pups, Miss Bahaving and Misdameanor, and 3 boys, Conman, Outlaw, and Felon.

Favorite Things to Do

Anything to do with sports! I am seriously ready for some FOOTBALL!!! Michael Phelps actually helped me go back to the water this summer and I enjoy drawing whenever I have some free time.

My Philosophy on Teaching

My Philosophy on teaching is simple, if you're not going to help a child and lookout for them then why are you in the classroom? Many teachers are out at the beginning of each year trying to see just how many children they can get to fail their class and to me that is unacceptable. Talk about Whitney Houston...the children are our future...but when you look at it they really are. They will be making the decisions about oil, they will be the ones running for president, and creating cures for cancer, aids, or new computer technology. They also hold the keys for my social security. I'm working right now to put money into something that is taking care of the people in retirement age now...and I will be teaching the children who will be putting money into my retirement account. If children are successful and then they will more than likely try and continue to try. However if children are constanly beaten up...their self esteem goes no where, and they are no longer willing to take chances for fear of failure. Think about it...I don't want my tax money going towards taking care of them. I would rather have my children take care of themselves.
