Messianic judaism (abbreviated as MJ) is a revived movement sprouting out of the school of thought that Paul and other apostles were Torah-observant. The Mesianic Jewish movement is not very unified in its theology as of right now, so to type a certain doctrine as the absolute stance of Messianic Judaism would be biased and misleading. An attempt to unify the theology of Messianic Judaism was made by David Stern, author of Messianic judaism (the revised title being Messianic Judaism: a modern movement with an ancient past), but he failed miserably in the attempt. So, the theology expressed here is not the final word in the actual theology of messianic jews. However, there are some core beliefs prevelent in many messianic jewish theologies and those will be noted. When messianic jewish theology is divided on a certain subject, that will be noted, too.

[edit] History of the Church

Most Messianic Jews agree on one things oncerning the history of the church: The religion taught be Yeshua (Jesus) and the apostles was Judaism, and that Judaism was later polluted by hellenized Jews within the Roman empire. That is the main idea, although the details differ with each group.

Some say that the original religion taught was the same as the Essenes, for others it is the Nazereans, and still for others it may be the Ebionites. All we know is that the original apostalic break-off sect from judaism was called "The Way" deriving from Yeshua's statement that he is the way.
