Wikijunior talk:The Elements/Zinc
From Wikibooks, the open-content textbooks collection
Just a thought about the "is it dangerous" part: Yes, Zn is necessary for life, but can be just as deadly as any heavy metal at higher concentrations. I don't think it is appropriate to teach kids (even at this age) to simply lump things into "bad" or "Good" categories. Kids this age are quite capable of understanding that too much of a good thing can be bad. As points of interest, you could mention that it can build up in the environment from industrial pollution, or that welders ( maybe say metalworkers) can get too much of it and get sick, or that overdoses can occur from taking too many vitamin pills. Actually, this post applies to quite a few of the elements.
