Wikijunior talk:New Title Policy

I am creating this policy because I think the previous policy of not allowing any new Wikijunior books to be created is just too much over the top. If we want to gradually add new Wikijunior books, there should be some sort of process of allowing it to happen. This is hopefully a compromise between allowing any title to be created (like Wikibooks in general) and not allowing anything at all to be added. --Rob Horning 01:30, 17 August 2005 (UTC)

Personally, I think that we should admit one book from every category at a time. I'm good at writing science-kinda stuff, and I'm disappointed when the latest one to work on is about language. --Sam T. Jazzhands 19:12, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

I'm trying to gague participation levels for these new Wikijunior projects. Wikijunior Elements only lost by a single vote during the last round, and indeed was declared the winner by one user. And the previous book was about Dinosaurs... which is a science related book. The whole point of doing this is to keep from overwhelming Wikijunior proofreaders and to try and raise the bar for the quality of the material being produced. So far, some incredibly outstanding content has developed. This is also an experiment to see if a slow growth approach really does improve the quality of the material being written, or if instead we should have a free-for-all write anything and everything, with stubs everywhere. I would like to move this to a new Wikijunior book every month, but I would like to see a user base large enough to support that many new books coming out all of the time. As it is, we are barely able to keep up with even producing a good Wikijunior book once every three months. I hope that changes. --Rob Horning 12:59, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
