• Have a parent, guardian, or teacher help you cut the cabbage into small chunks.
• Put the cabbage into a medium sized bowl.
• Pour cold water over the cabbage.
• Let the cabbage sit in the water for a while (30-45 minutes).

• Strain the juice into a cup.
• Pour equal amounts of the strained liquid into a container like the one pictured on the right or
• Pour equal amounts of the strained liquid into small plastic cups.
• Add a teaspoon of baking soda to the strained liquid to all but one of the containers or small cups.

• Test different liquids to see if they are acids or bases.
• Lemon Juice
• Soda
• Water
