Help:Stub

From Wikibooks, the open-content textbooks collection

Jump to: navigation, search

It is night. You are hungry, so you rise from bed and walk in the darkness. You accidentally bang your toe against the wall. You say:

"Ow! I stubbed my toe!"

That stub was no fun. But a stub at Wikibooks is relatively harmless. At Wikibooks, stubs are short, apparently incomplete modules.

Typically, a stub appears because someone creates a new chapter or module of a book which is missing most of the intended content. Stubs tend to only contain a brief description or a suggestion of what the content should be. An incomplete table of contents is also a stub. (If the module only contains nonsense, then it can be marked for speedy deletion.)

What you type What appears
{{stub}}
{{book stub}}
{{chapter stub}}
{{sectstub}}
{{incomplete}} The text in its current form is incomplete.

You can use {{stub}} to mark any stub. When one section of a module is a stub, then you can use {{sectstub}}.

The {{incomplete}} marker does not add the page to any category. Some users prefer this to the stub marker.
