Help:Donate images to this book
From Wikibooks, the open-content textbooks collection
Any good textbook uses images to communicate its message. If you have an image that you think would add to the value of this book, donate it!
To upload images, make sure you have a username and are logged in. Only logged-in users have access to the image upload features.
Click on the "Upload file" link on the left margin of the page. Use the navigational button towards the bottom of the page to find the image you want to upload. Write a brief description of the image if you like in the space provided, then click "upload file". When the file is done uploading, a message will appear telling you that the file was successfully uploaded and giving you a link to the image.
To make the image appear in the textbook after you have uploaded it, go to the page where you want the image to appear, then open up the editing mode by clicking on the "edit this page" link. Then put in code that links to the image, just like this: [[Image:Chimpanzee-Head.jpg]] , where "Chimpanzee-Head.jpg" is the name of the image you just uploaded. When you click the "Save this page" button you should be viewing a new version of the page that now includes your image.
If you do not have any images yourself but would like to help find some, good places to look include Wikipedia and this archive of government public domain images.
A note about image file formats: Wikibooks is an open content, free resource that prefers to use images that support those ideals. The .jpg and .png file formats are preferred when possible, and .gif format is avoided.
[edit] Wikimedia Commons
You can also upload the pictures to Wikimedia Commons, a site dedicated to storing media for use in all Wikimedia projects like Wikibooks. You can use them just like any other image. Just put in the same code you would use for another picture (i.e. [[Image: Image.jpg]] from will also call up an image from the commons]])
