Wikibooks:Arbitration/Panic2k4 vs. SBJohnny/Arbitrator Actions

I'm stepping in here after discussing the issue with several others and due to the absence of the original arbitrator.

I have found Panic's responses here especially offensive and detrimental to the sense of community we have at Wikibooks. Extremely verbose digs follow almost every issue SBJohnny or other inidividuals have added to the complaints here. Defending one's self is everyone's right but I believe this has become a soapbox about issues well beyond what we're supposed to be covering in an arbitration hearing. The same ideas repeat over and over in Panic's responses, continually resonating his disrespect for other editors and the book he contributes in. This arbitration should not be about the philosophy of editing but about resolving editor disputes. I feel that SBJohnny acted rationally in trying to defuse the situation through blocking. It seems that everyone I have talked to about this matter agrees with me (besides Panic). Therefore these are the actions I will be taking shortly:

  1. Panic2k4 and all other aliases will be banned from the project for six months. I feel this is an adequate time period for the C++ book and offended editors to recover.
  2. SBJohnny and any other party will have no actions taken against them, for I believe they acted rationally against many, many malicious edits.

Panic will be blocked in approximately 24 hours' time. I am leaving this short window open so that any last responses may be delivered at my talk page, and at my talk page only.

Panic has now been blocked for six months. -withinfocus 22:32, 1 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Panic was given a chance to challenge this block by writing down what he believes he has done wrong and can change. He rejected this solution and so I see no other way to continue the discussion of this issue directly and so I will ignore any further correspondence to it. I believe everything has been said and objections made, and we will thus design a better system to avoid all this in the future. -withinfocus 03:11, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Panic is now unblocked. The Wikibooks community can find a new solution to this issue. -withinfocus 13:53, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
