The Veda (Sanskrit véda वेद "knowledge") is one of the most sacred of the Hindu scripture that covers all the knowledge in the world.

[edit] Source Of Veda

The Veda is said to have been revealed by Brahma to ancient Rishis. The mode of communication was known as Sruti (what is heard in the minds of a person). This source of knowledge is infinite and always present around everyone. One needs to meditate upon the truth and every truth is revealed.

[edit] The Four Samhitas

Due to huge amount of the text present in the Veda, it was impossible for a single human to memorize, recite and understand the Veda. Vyasa Muni then decided to break the Veda in to 4 samhitas and simplify the same. The four samhitas were as follows

  1. The Rigveda Samhita
  2. The Yajurveda Samhita
  3. The Samveda Samhita
  4. The Atharvaveda Samhita
