Using GNOME/File manager home folder

The home folder contains a list of all the users on the computer with the exception of the root user. Therefore, if your username was dave, then your files and settings would be at the location /home/dave. This ensures that each user has separate storage, also each user cannot see the others’ folder by default to prevent unauthorised access on public computers and the like.
