Nice Work

Nice work on the CPR pages. Thanks for pitching in! -- Jim Thomas (aka Jomegat) 14:38, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

THANKS! can you help? please?? Mike.lifeguard 04:14, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

What sort of help do you need? -- Jim Thomas (aka Jomegat) 04:45, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
What sort of help don't I need? I guess you have some experience, so I could use your help in making a better way of navigating through the first aid book. I'd really like a shortened version of the table of contents in a box at the top left - like infoboxes in wikipedia. That's be sweet. Is there any way to figure out if anyone else is contributing to this book? Mike.lifeguard 15:20, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
I also don't know how to add/delete/move chapters/sections in the book. Which I'll need to do later. Mike.lifeguard 15:23, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
TOC
I haven't messed with custom TOCs or navigation, so I can't help there. But you could ask on the staff lounge (I guess technical chat). Or if you've seen a book whose navigation you like, edit the page and see how they did it.
Other contributors
Just click the "history" tab at the top of a page.
Adding chapters
The easiest way to add a chapter is to add a reference to it, like this:
[[First aid/CPR/New Chapter]]
Which should render as a red link. Click the link and add content, and bingo - new chapter.
Deleting chapters
deleting can only be done by admins. You can add a delete template like this and an admin will see it: {{delete|reason for deletion}}
Moving pages
There's a move tab at the top of the page.
Hope that helps. -- Jim Thomas (aka Jomegat) 15:36, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
Oh, one other thing. I visited every page of my book - even when each page was still a red link - and added it to my watch list. That's a pretty good way to see what has changed lately, or if anyone has added a new page. -- Jim Thomas (aka Jomegat) 18:13, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

Hello, Welcome!

Hello mike.lifeguard, welcome to wikibooks! I've seen your work on the first aid book, and it is looking good. If you have questions, you can always ask me, or you can post them at the staff lounge and other people will be happy to help as well. Don't hesitate to ask! Good luck and happy authoring. --Whiteknight (talk) (projects) 02:36, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the quick reply. I started fooling around with the navigation thingy from Human Physiology... I think It'll work. I'm fine with editing content, but I'll probably be asking for help with more complicated things again. Mike.lifeguard 02:42, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
It's okay, nobody is perfect at all the tricks when they first get here. the formatting and HTML and all is enough to make anybody need help. I've been here for almost 2 years and i still have to ask for help every now and again. --Whiteknight (talk) (projects) 02:44, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
I figured out how to move pages, but apparently I can't overwrite pages. And I can't delete them, then move the page. And I'm not about to move them manually. Suggestions? Also, what should be done with the old talk pages? Should they be kept somehow... what's the deal here? Mike.lifeguard 02:51, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

Adventist Youth Honors Answer Book/Health and Science/First Aid, Basic

Hi Mike,

Thanks for leaving a message on the talk page of our chapter on first aid. The requirements for the AY honors are set by a committee, and I do not have latitude to change them. Not being an expert myself, I took most of the answers from several U.S. Navy Training Manuals. But if you see things in there that are out-of-date, I think it's perfectly OK to note that in the answers. Thanks again for your willingness to help. --Jomegat 00:46, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

Re:"Processing Page Text"

Thanks for pointing this out, I explained myself in more detail on the books talk page. If you have any other questions, let me know. --Whiteknight (Page) (Talk) 23:34, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
