'About the Author'

My name is Sheenita Jones Hill and I reside in Norfolk,Virginia with my husband two children. I am a returning student to Old Dominion University after being out of school for Twenty years. I plan to teach Spanish for grades K2-12.I also want to translate Spanish and I want to teach English as a second language. My long term goal is to develope a program that would introduce Spanish to all public school students as soon as they enter the public school system.

'My teaching Philosophy'

Languages are a must, and should be a required part of the educational system begining in grade K. Doing this will definitely make the educational environment more diverse whrn dealing with other languages and cultures. I believe that each student should be introduced to other languages so that they will have a better understanding of this great big world we share. The children that I teach will not only learn another language, they will also learn geography while also learning to understand, respect, and appreciate another culture. Again, as a Spanish major, I feel that foreign languages should be a mandatory part of the educational curriculum for all students begining in grade K.

'My goal'

I plan to help make the public school system an environment that bridges cultural and racial gaps while introducing children to a brand new language.
