Philip A. Thompsen, Ph.D. is Associate Professor of Communication Studies at West Chester University in West Chester, Pennsylvania, USA. He currently teaches courses in mass communication, broadcasting and communication technology. He advises the university's student-operated radio station, WCUR, as well as the campus newspaper, The Quad. He is also the department's webmaster and educational technology coordinator.

Prior to joining the faculty at West Chester University, Dr. Thompsen taught at William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri, where he also advised its student-operated campus radio station, KWJC. He has also taught at The University of Utah, Arizona State University, The University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and the Ron Baile School of Broadcasting.

Dr. Thompsen worked as a professional broadcast announcer for 8 years, from 1976 to 1984. He worked at a variety of radio and television stations in Arizona, Louisiana and Missouri. He continues to host a weekly radio program, "The Moldy Oldies Show," on WCUR.
