Brief History[edit | edit source]

Retired in June of 2010. Work history includes (in order):

  • Electronic Musical Instrument Technician
  • Industrial Instrument Technician (Electrical, Electronic, Pneumatic)
  • Nuclear Electronics Technician (20yrs)
  • Technical Report Writer (Submarine Operation / Maintenance)
  • Programmer / Analyst

Education

  • Too many electronics schools to mention. Or even remember.
  • Associates degree, Engineering from Thomas Nelson Community College

Motivation[edit | edit source]

As you might guess, I've read a lot of technical manuals. It is not an exaggeration to say that poorly written technical articles have been the bane of my existence. Retirement is the perfect opportunity to exact some revenge and perhaps smooth the way for those who still struggle to make sense of technical content.

In retirement I have found that I still need something to do. Who knew?

Why Do I Think You Care?[edit | edit source]

I don't, but if you have read this far...

I assume that you are here from following the trail of one of my edits. You would be asking "Who is this idiot(genius) that destroyed(perfected) my writing?". My purpose, then is to briefly introduce myself and offer a sample of my writing. Please note that the writing style I use here is not appropriate for any kind of technical article.

Projects[edit | edit source]

LaTeX[edit | edit source]

I have started using LaTeX to make math formula reference sheets for my own use. The Wikibook is a great reference but it has some issues with organization and readability. I am certainly not a LaTeX authority but I can massage existing technical content for improvements in clarity. In the meantime, I am learning rapidly. Actually, the subject of electronic typesetting is quite interesting.

Be assured that I take great care not to introduce technical errors. In fact, my editing is likely to be quite timid until I get a better feel for the community.

American English: I have no linguistic knowledge beyond American English. Therefore, I will not presume to disturb sections that deal with other languages.
