We are using a collaborative proofreading process. Please sign up for one of these tasks by "signing" your name. When you are done with it, cross it off

If you have any questions about the assignments or the work being done on any of the assignments, please

  • Post a note on one of the Talk pages for this module
  • Contact the person signed up for the assigment
  • Or contact any of the active contributors to this book if you cannot get a response from the person signed up for the assigment.

If you wish to take on one of the assignments, please log in so that others may contact you easily to ask or answer questions about this book.

We all have our areas of expertise, and can make this book a great one by contributing what we know best.

Thanks for your help

  • Please follow the proofreading process.
  • When fact-checking, please add references as discussed in Fact Checking.
  • Whenever you work on a section, please be careful not to undo work already completed in previous phases.

[edit] Phase 1. Reorganize

  • Reorganize this module.
This module doesn't any reorganizing, as far as I can see. I'll cross it off--Shanel 22:28, 2 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Phase 2. Fact-Check

Please sign up to fact-check one of these sections. Please follow these instructions. Please put all of your references at the bottom of your section. We can collect them in "References" later. This will help avoid us stepping on each others' toes.

[edit] Fact-Check sections

  • Top of Page (before first section) No facts here to check.

  • 1 What is the Sun? Done. I added the temperature of the core for clarification and emphasis of the difference. I also changed "makes plants grow" to "allows plants to grow" as that is more accurate.
I am confused by the reference directions. It seems silly to list my references for each section instead of adding to the bottom. If someone uses the same reference, they will see it listed already. If it really needs to be moved to the same section, then someone can go ahead and do that, but I am using the same references for all the sections I will check.

[edit] Phase 3. Grade Level

Overall page Fog level is 6.36, well within an acceptable level for 8-12 year-olds considering the harder words are defined. I also ran the page through an unofficial Lexile [[1]] analyzer (common scale used by libraries and educators) with a result of 992, which is essentially challenging for the average 8yo and simple for the average 12yo. Starchildmom 01:44, 3 April 2006 (UTC) 8.92 , but that is due to the word photosphere, which is defined
