Hi,

I'd like to add a sci.cs for computer science but I'm not sure how to add this category to the main wikisci page. I think wikisci is a great idea because already wikipedia articles serve as whole summaries of millions of references throughout the internet. If research papers could be summarized in this way, it provides a powerful entry point for anyone perusing a new field.

Also, I think new ideas and new research should be differentiated from the page text in some way. When someone adds something to a wikipedia article, it can get lost in the entire body of text already written and people might not notice the new addition for a while.

Any thoughts? Please answer my CS question please.

The page Help:Contents (do you see the link in the far left-hand column?) *should* answer your questions on adding categories. Alas, sometimes the documentation is incomplete or confusing. Please help us fix it. Adding categories is simple -- pretend that it already exists, edit WikiSci to link to that (imaginary) page, and save your edits. Sometimes when I link to pages I wish existed, occasionally they show up in blue -- and I discover that they already do exist. Cool.
"When someone adds something" -- Good idea. Done. If you hit the "history" tab at the top of any page, it lists every time anyone adds something to a wikipedia artile. You can "compare" any 2 versions to see exactly what was added, without getting lost in the entire body of text. If you "register" for a user ID (all you need to enter is a unique user name and a password), then you can "watch" articles, and your "watchlist" will tell you which, if any, articles have changed since the last time, with a "diff" link to exactly what changed.
Does that answer your questions? --DavidCary 20:05, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
