I'm not sure what this book is about (which is a problem... wikibooks should either be for a general audience or explain why they're not), but is anyone watching this book? I can't tell if the page is being repeatedly vandalised or is just incredibly esoteric. --SB_Johnny | talk 19:40, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

well at least i am watching it at the moment.First of all it is for doctors, and among them those who take USMLE exam of USA. so esoteric of course it is. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 202.125.143.67 (talkcontribs) .

So what does USMLE stand for? :) --SB_Johnny | talk 00:27, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
USMLE is the US Medical Licensing Examination, which is actually a series of exams ("Steps") taken by medical students and physicians in the US. Step 1 is usually taken in the second year of medical school, before students begin clinical rotations; it is an eight-hour-long (!) test that covers all the medical, biological, biochemical and other pre-clinical study up to that point. The strange, occasionally foul mnemonics are a traditional device; they're useful for passing tests, but even more important for remembering things 'in the field'. The Wikipedia entry on cranial nerves includes several examples of these. --Randomfloop 11:28, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Section(s) Truncated

The info after "Clinical - free association" seems to have been truncated around Fanconi. This is the last intact version I found: http://en.wikibooks.org/w/index.php?title=USMLE_Step_One_Review&oldid=446324 --Sarephina
