[edit] Convention backwards
In the diagram, the sides are have upercase labels (A, B, C), and the angles have lowercase labels (a, b, c)... whereas the equations seem to use the opposite naming convention. I think it would be easier to change the image rather than the text. Can whoever uploaded the image upload a new one?132.206.205.83 20:40, 7 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] naming convention
that is absolutely right. The convention I've seen in my experience in trigonometry is capital letters for angles and lowercase for (opposite) sides. I think this convention is used throughout other pages of wikipedia too, soo the picture should change :)
[edit] Is there a need to specify the proofs of sine and cosine?
I am studying math on an ordinary level, and I'm revising trigonometry atm. I found these proofs very helpful, even though I used some time to figure out what was exactly happening between the equations. Therefore I think it would be very helpful for me and others to have some text leading the reader on and telling which rules are used, for instance not just "using the triangle", but "using sine in a right-angled triangle" and so on. Hope someone will make these changes, as I dont feel qualified enough.
